Bronchos End Home Season Tuesday

Central Oklahoma wraps up the 2021 regular season and home schedule Tuesday when the Bronchos entertain No. 2-ranked Central Missouri.

Match-time for the Senior Night contest at Hamilton Field House is 6 p.m.

UCO is 19-8 on the season and fifth in the league standings at 12-7. The Jennies are 23-3 overall and tied for first in the conference at 13-3.

The Bronchos are assured of a fifth-place finish and will open MIAA Tournament play Nov. 16 on the road against the fourth-place team. No. 15 Nebraska-Kearney currently sits in fourth.

"Central Missouri has one of the best teams in the country and it will be quite a challenge for us," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "We'll have to be at our absolute best, but the girls are excited about the opportunity."

It will be the final home appearance from three UCO seniors – Amanda Desch, Lauren Jenkins and Alycia Bradley-Adriano.

Courtney Lane has been Central's leading offensive force all season and ranks third in the MIAA in kills per-set (3.51), having piled up 326 on the year. She's added 258 digs and 17 service aces.

Three other players have at least 160 kills -- Jenna Karp (218), Jenkins (197) and Brynn Egger (167). Karp also leads the team in blocks (97) and aces (23), ranking fourth in the league in blocks per set (1.02).

Egger has a team-best .284 attack percentage and McCrary has added 68 blocks. Katie Le has racked up 551 digs, a 5.80 per-set average that is second-best in the conference.

Central Missouri had a 13-match winning streak snapped last Saturday with a four-set loss to UNK. The Jennies can clinch at least a share of the MIAA title with wins in their final two matches (UCO and Newman).

The Jennies have three players hitting .300 or better with 230-plus kills – Audrey Fisher (.373, 295), Hannah Engelken (.333, 233) and Kersti Nix (.301, 277). Engelken also leads the league in blocks with 1.20 per set (112 total) and Fisher has added 89.

UCM swept the Bronchos in this year's first meeting on Oct. 14 in Warrensburg, Mo. and now leads the series 18-4.
