UCO Hits Road For Two MIAA Contests

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team will make its final regular season road trip this weekend for a pair of MIAA games.

Central Oklahoma plays at Northwest Missouri Friday at 3 p.m. before wrapping up the trip Sunday afternoon at Missouri Western.

"We've been playing pretty well lately and we need to be focused on keeping that level of play," UCO associate head coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "I think the team is in a good spot right now but these are two big games. We need good energy and we need to be focused on our game plan."

Central Oklahoma is 10-3-1 overall this season and has a 6-1-0 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos are in second place in the league standings with four games remaining. Northwest Missouri is 8-5-1 overall this season and 4-2-1 in the MIAA. The Bearcats of Maryville, Missouri are also 4-2-1 at their home pitch.

Central is 8-0-1 all-time against Northwest Missouri. The Bronchos won the first meeting 5-0 in 2000 before a long break in action. The teams tied, 1-1, in 2012 when UCO joined the MIAA. The Bronchos have won each of the last seven meetings by a combined 23-1. The scoring is 29-2 in favor of the Bronchos in nine all-time meetings.

Kassidy Collins is second on the team with five goals and has four assists to go with it. Eden Jones and Taryn Kedzior both have four goals scored this season. Kedzior, who has two assists on the season, was also named MIAA Defender of the Week earlier this week.

Madison Linavong also has two goals scored. Meredith Wilson, Harmony Turner, Katie Gasaway, Brooke Moore, Kylee Wickersham and Katy Tullis all have one goal for Central.

Defensively, UCO has given up 15 goals in 14 games. That 1.07 goals allowed per game average is also the third-best mark in the MIAA.

Kaitlyn Asher has played most of the season in goal for the Bronchos. The senior from Bixby, Oklahoma, who was named MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week last week, is 9-2-1 in goal this season.

Asher has played 989 minutes in 13 games and has allowed just 11 goals. Asher has 35 saves and has played a part in each of Central's seven shutouts this season. She has four complete shutouts, third-most in the MIAA, and played part of three more for the Bronchos.
