Dominique Lipari Named Finalist For MIAA Award

Senior Volleyball Player Up For Fall Female Student Athlete of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Wednesday the finalists for Student Athletes of the Year and University of Central Oklahoma senior volleyball player Dominique Lipari was named a finalist for Fall Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

The MIAA is honoring fall and winter student-athletes this year in lieu of the traditional Ken B. Jones Award – the league's top individual honor. With the cancellation of spring sports taking the opportunity away from those student-athletes to be nominated for the award, the league announced it would honor a male and female student athlete from both the fall and winter sports seasons.
 
Lipari, who graduated this spring with a bachelor's degree in nursing, was among the brightest student-athletes at UCO and now, in the MIAA. She became a four-time All-MIAA recipient following her senior season and also earned First Team All-American honors to go with numerous other accolades.
 
But Lipari excelled off the court just as much as she did on, logging frequent community service hours with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, volunteering at the Edmond Hope Center and at the Oklahoma City Food Bank.
 
Lipari, who is from Kansas City, Missouri, made the Dean's Honor Roll in 2017, 2019, and 2020 and was a CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee in 2020. She managed one of the hardest degree programs (nursing) at UCO, going through clinicals, earning high academic honors, and all the while leading the Central volleyball program. She not only led the Bronchos on the court, but she also led the entire country in digs this past season.
 
The MIAA will announce the winner of the 2019-20 Fall Student Athletes of the Year Thursday, May 21.
