UCO Earns AVCA Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 22) – The University of Central Oklahoma volleyball team appeared on the American Volleyball Coaches Association's annual Team Academic Award list for the sixth consecutive year, it was announced Monday.

The Bronchos also made the Academic Team Honor Roll as one of the top 25 teams in Division II with an overall team grade point average of 3.70

"This is a great achievement for our program," UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku said. "Our girls work just as hard in the classroom as they do on the court. Everyone takes their academics very seriously and it's rewarding to see the team get recognized for that."

Central is coming off a 27-7 season and has won 117 matches over the last four seasons. The Bronchos begin preparations for the 2019 campaign in mid-August with the start of practice and open the season Sept. 6-7 at the Eckerd Invitational in St. Petersburg, Fla.
