Central Oklahoma wraps up home slate this weekend

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team is scheduled to play its final two home matches of the 2019 regular season this weekend. The Bronchos host Northwest Missouri Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting Missouri Western Sunday at 1 p.m. Friday's match will be played at Wantland Stadium.

Central Oklahoma is 8-4-2 this season and has a 3-4 record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Northwest Missouri is 4-7-3 overall this season and sits 2-3-2 in the MIAA. Missouri Western is 4-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the league.

UCO is aiming to snap a three-game losing streak this weekend. The Bronchos have never lost four in a row in 22 years of play. Despite a recent slump, the Bronchos still possess one of the best offenses in the country.

Central Oklahoma ranks seventh nationally in both goals scored and assists. UCO has scored 42 goals in 14 games and has 35 assists to those 42 goals. Central's 119 total points is also the sixth-best mark in the country. UCO ranks No. 1 in the MIAA in all three categories.

Asha Haile and Kelsie Eason continue to stand atop the Central stat sheet with nine goals apiece. Haile also has a team-high eight assists on the season. Eason has seven. Haley Post joins the mix with five goals and six assists. The trio has surged Central to its top offensive spot in the league.

Defensivley, Central allows 1.57 goals per game. The Bronchos are led by senior Kelsey Gordon on the back line. She's played a team-high 1,249 minutes out of a possible 1,300 this season. Taryn Kedzior and Meredith Wilson also play on the back line next to Gordon and work to thwart every opponent's chance.

Kaitlyn Asher has played the most minutes in goal this season for the Bronchos. The junior goalie has played nearly 1,000 minutes in goal and has a 6-3-2 record in the net. She's made 33 saves this season and has a 1.00 goals against average.

Sunday, Central will celebrate senior day prior to the game against MWSU. The Bronchos will honor four seniors who have made a significant impact on the program.

Haile, Gordon, Post, and Madison Motil will all be recognized. The quartet has played in a combined 257 games over the past four seasons. During their time, Central Oklahoma is 52-23-5. The four have scored a combined 55 goals and have a combined 31 assists in four years.
