Rams Topple UCO

SAN ANGELO, Texas (March 2) -- Angelo State jumped out to a big early lead and Central Oklahoma couldn't recover in falling to the Rams 9-4 here Friday night.

The Bronchos trailed 7-0 after three innings before rallying to within 8-4 after five, but UCO could get no closer and ASU went on to take the opener of the three-game series.

The two teams meet for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.

The Bronchos were limited to seven hits, with Eric Garza collecting two to lead the offense.

UCO didn't get on the scoreboard until the fourth inning when Tucker Brown was hit by pitch, went to third on Kevin Blue's single and scored on a double steal. Austin Rycroft followed with a two-run home run to pull the Bronchos within 7-3.

The Rams got a run back in the bottom of that inning and UCO's final score came in the fifth on Brown single that scored Garza, who led off with a hit and went to third on consecutive groundouts.
