Bronchos Win Third Straight

LAREDO, Texas (Sept. 16) -- Three different players scored and Central Oklahoma rolled over Texas A&M International 3-1 for its third straight win here late Friday night.

UCO dominated the contest from start to finish on a hot and humid night, outshooting the Dustdevils 18-5 and pitching a shutout until the final two minutes.

The Bronchos evened their record at 3-3 and move on to Austin Sunday to take on unbeaten and No. 2-ranked St. Edward's.

“We didn't play great, but it was a good win on the road to keep our momentum going,” head coach Mike Cook said. “We need to get ready for a tough game on Sunday and we're looking forward to that challenge.”

UCO got goals from Stephanie Fleig, Ashton Morris and Brittni Walker in the victory, with TAMI avoiding a shutout on a goal with just 1:49 left to play.

Fleig put the Bronchos on top 1-0 just 14:27 into the game with a long shot that went over the goalkeeper's head into the left corner of the net.

It stayed that way until the 56^th minute when Morris scored from close range after taking a cross from Lizzie Merritt and Walker made it 3-0 at 70:14 on a shot from 12 yards out.

It was the 29^th career goal for Morris, moving her into a tie for fourth on UCO's all-time list, and she also moved into a tie for fifth in career scoring with 72 points.
