UCO Splits Two Matches

BOLIVAR, Mo. (Sept. 10) –
Alex Richardson had 21 kills and Morgan Roy added 17 to pace Central Oklahoma to a four-set win over host Southwest Baptist here Saturday evening on the final day of the SBU Bearcat Classic.

The Bronchos lost a five-set heartbreaker to Fort Hays State (
25-23, 15-25, 25-18, 14-25, 15-12) earlier Saturday before ending the two-day, four-match event with a 23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 triumph over the Bearcats.

"We played well in both matches today," UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.  "We lost a tough match to Fort Hays, but I thought we did a nice job of bouncing back and finishing the tournament on a strong note."

Richardson had a .314 attack percentage in registering 21 kills against just five errors in 51 attempts, while Morgan hit .316 with 17 kills and five miscues in 38 attacks.

The Bronchos also got 12 kills from Sam Cool and 10 from Jordan Jacobs, while Bella Romero had 53 assists and Tate Hardaker a career-high 33 digs.

Richardson also led UCO in the loss to FHSU, finishing with 20 kills and six blocks (one solo, five assisted).  Cool chipped in 11 kills and 31 digs, Jacobs had nine kills and seven blocks (one solo, six assisted) and Romero added 32 assists, 15 digs and six assisted bocks.

The Bronchos, now 5-4 on the year, return home to host Arkansas-Fort Smith at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
