LAWTON, Okla. (March 14) -- Central Oklahoma managed just 12 hits in dropping a Lone Star Conference doubleheader to Cameron here Sunday.
The Bronchos had five hits in an 8-3 first-game loss and seven in a 9-1 second-game defeat as the Aggies completed a four-game series sweep.
UCO, now 7-11 on the year and 5-11 in league play, returns to action Wednesday with a single non-conference game at No. 8-ranked Emporia State.
The Bronchos took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on Arrow Cunningham's RBI ground-out, but CU tied it in the bottom of that frame and went ahead 6-1 after three innings.
UCO got its final runs in the fourth, scoring one on an error and the other on a sacrifice fly by David Hadley. That cut the deficit to 6-3, but the Aggies came back with two runs in their next at bat to go ahead 8-3 and the Bronchos had no answer.
Luke Yost had two of UCO's five hits, while Cameron finished with 10 hits.
The Aggies had 14 hits in the nightcap and led 3-0 after two innings before UCO got its lone run in the third when Ryan Schoonover singled, went to second on a Cody Cole base hit and scored on a Yost single.
CU put the game away with three runs in the fourth.
Jason Monko had two of UCO's seven hits.
