Morgan Manning Named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week

UCO Sophomore Shined In Debut At Libero

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma sophomore Morgan Manning was named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Manning made her first career starts at libero for the Bronchos and had a stellar performance on back-to-back nights to help lead UCO to a 2-0 record on the week. Central Oklahoma beat Missouri Southern 3-0 on Thursday night before winning 3-1 against Central Missouri on Friday night.
 
An Edmond native, Manning dug up 51 attacks in two matches, averaging 7.29 digs per set through seven sets played. In her first career start at libero, Manning had a career-high 24 digs in the three-set sweep of Missouri Southern. She followed that up with 27 digs in the four-set win over Central Missouri.
 
Manning also had two service aces on the week. She leads the team with 19 this season. Manning has played in 61 of 62 sets for Central this season and has 195 digs on the back row. She averages 3.20 per set.
 
Central Oklahoma has just one match on the schedule this week. The Bronchos host Newman for an MIAA tilt Friday at 6 p.m. at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos will visit Newman next week (Oct. 6) for a second matchup with the Jets in Wichita, Kansas.
