UCO Sweeps Competition In Home Races

Central Oklahoma Outpaced Milwaukee School of Engineering, Oklahoma State, and Wichita State Saturday In OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma delivered a commanding performance Saturday on its home water, sweeping all races at the Oklahoma River Invitational at the Central Boathouse.

The Bronchos set the tone early in the morning session, opening with a decisive win in the Varsity 8+. UCO crossed in 7:14.00, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Milwaukee School of Engineering and 25 seconds clear of Oklahoma State. Wichita State rounded out the field.

Central Oklahoma followed with another strong showing in the second of two V8+ races, clocking 7:26.00 to secure a second victory and complete the sweep in the top boat.

UCO carried that momentum into the fours, where the Bronchos continued to separate from the field. The Varsity 4+ claimed its first race in 7:48.00, then returned later in the day to win again in 8:07.00, finishing ahead of Wichita State, MSOE, and Oklahoma State.

The Bronchos also captured both 2V4+ races, posting times of 8:08.00 and 8:40.00 to round out a perfect day on the water.

"Going into the races against MSOE, OSU, and Wichita State, I felt very confident in my team and myself in our ability to compete to what our team calls the Broncho standard," team captain and junior Sawyer Schreiner said. "As the team as a whole, we were able to take it to the next level, especially having to do racing back-to-back. This racing will help set us up later on in our season, as we prepare to go to the Dll invite in Florida this Easter weekend."
