Bronchos Tied For Second In Kansas

Central Oklahoma Finishes Firekeeper Open Tuesday Morning

MAYETTA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma is tied for second place after two trips around Firekeeper Golf Course Monday in Washburn's Firekeeper Open.

The Bronchos posted a 36-hole 612, logging a 312 in the morning round before returning with a 300 in the afternoon. Washburn is first in the team standings with a 607 (309-298) and Nebraska Kearney is tied with UCO in second at 612 (313-299). Wayne State (622) and Augustana (623) round out the top five.

Grace Hall led the way for the Bronchos and is in fifth place after shooting 6-over par on Monday. The freshman from Austin, Texas shot a 6-over 78 in the first round and came back with an even-par 72 in the afternoon. Hall had a pair of birdies in the opening round and four more in the second round to go with an eagle on the 500-yard Par 5 fourth hole.

Layne Ailshie is one shot back of her teammate after a 7-over 151 on Monday. She led the Bronchos through the first round with a 3-over-par 75 and steadied her way through the second round with a 4-over 76. The sophomore from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma had five birdies on the day.

Scarlet Sturch is tied for 16th place individually after a 12-over 156. She had rounds of 79 and 77 on Monday. MaKaylee Cowan is one shot back in 20th place after rounds of 82 and 75 put her at 13-over 157 in the tournament. Estela Castillo is also in the lineup and is also in the Top 25 after shooting 15-over par on Monday. She began the day with an 8-over 80 and shaved one stroke off that mark with a 7-over 79 in the afternoon.

Central Oklahoma will tee off in the final round Tuesday at 9 a.m. on holes 1-4 in foursomes with Washburn, Kearney, and Wayne State.
