UCO 11th After First Round In Florida

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the first day of the Emerald Coast Collegiate tied for 11th place in the 17-team field playing at Baytowne Golf Club.

UCO posted a first-round score of 305. UT Tyler leads the field after an opening 287. Flagler (291), Mississippi College (296), Washburn (297) and Central Missouri (297) make up the top five teams.

The Bronchos were led by freshman Grace Hall, who posted a 3-over-par 74 on Sunday. Hall started the day on the back nine with a triple bogey and was 5-over after four holes. But she responded with three consecutive birdies to get to 2-over. She added a fourth birdie after turning back to the front nine and then had two more bogeys to finish 3-over par.

Scarlet Sturch is two shots back after an opening round 76. The junior bogeyed her first hole, then dropped in six straight par putts before a birdie on No. 17 got her to even par. Sturch would double 18 to make the turn at 2-over. On the front nine, Sturch had two birdies, three bogeys and another double bogey to finish at 5-over par.

Layne Ailshie posted a 6-over 77, Estela Castillo ended the day with a 7-over 78, and MaKaylee Cowan wrapped up the first round with a 9-over-par 80.

Central Oklahoma will play 54 holes in Florida. The second round is scheduled for Monday morning while the third and final round is set for Tuesday.
