Grace Hall Leads UCO To Finish In Florida

Central Oklahoma Freshman Nearly Sets School Record In Final Round

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Central Oklahoma freshman Grace Hall shot a 4-under-par 67 Tuesday to shoot up the leaderboard on the final round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate at Baytown Golf Club.

The 67 is the third-lowest score in school history at UCO.

The Bronchos finished ninth as a team in the 17-team national field. Hall finished 12th individually.

"She was dialed in today," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "She played really well. She has the potential to do that and we saw it today. This was a tough tournament with a great field and we did okay. Now we'll get ready for the next one."

UCO finished with a 54-hole team score of 898, which is also the third-best 54-hole total in school history. The Bronchos posted rounds of 305-300-293 this week.

Only Daniela Martinez (2014-15) and Marla Souvannasing (2015-16) have shot lower scores than Hall did Tuesday in Florida. Martinez and Souvannasing both shot 66s in Edmond to set and tie the school record.

Hall finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 217 to get 12th place individually. She started with a 3-over 74 on Sunday and shot a 5-over 76 on Monday before Tuesday's historic round.

Starting on No. 9 and beginning with two straight pars, Hall had birdies on the Par 3 11th and Par 5 12th. She finished the back nine with a 33 reeling off six consecutive par putts. She had a seventh consecutive par on No. 1 before another birdie on the Par 4 second hole.

Hall's only blemish on the day was a double bogey on No. 4, but she followed with back-to-back birdies then added a sixth birdie putt on No. 8 to finish the round with a 4-under 67.

Scarlet Sturch also finished in the top 30 with a 225 this week. The junior shot rounds of 76-73-76. Layne Ailshie had posted back-to-back 77s before a 5-over 76 on Tuesday. MaKaylee Cowan continued her trend of three less shots each round, starting with an 80, then a 77, and finishing with a 74 on Tuesday. Estela Castillo was one shot back of Cowan with a 232 (78-74-80).

Central Oklahoma is off for two weeks before returning to competition in Kansas March 23-24. The Bronchos will take on the field in the Firekeeper Open in Mayetta, Kansas, hosted by Washburn.
