Central Oklahoma Hosts Washburn

Bronchos Welcome Ichabods To Hamilton Field House Thursday Night

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts Washburn Thursday night in an MIAA matchup at Hamilton Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
UCO is 9-15 this season and has a 4-11 record in the MIAA. Washburn is 17-7 overal and 10-5 in league play. This is the first and only meeting of the season between the two schools.
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 63.1 points per game this season. The Bronchos shoot 36.0 percent from the floor, 26.5 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line. UCO averages 4.5 made 3-pointers per game and 11.5 made free-throws per game.
 
Defensively, Central allows an even 63.9 points per game with opponents shooting 36.8 percent overall against the Bronchos. Teams shoot 31.1 percent from behind the 3-point line and average 6.5 made threes per game. Opponents also shoot 71.0 percent at the free-throw line against UCO and average 11.9 made free-throws per game.
 
Nykaiya Dillard and Kaitlyn McCarn continue to lead UCO with both averaging double figures. Jerney Bennett and Bobbie Fouquet are both just under 10 points per game and are leading in rebounding and on defense.
 
Dillard averages 12.4 points per game coming off the bench. The freshman guard has made the most field goals (109) on the team and has made and taken the most free-throws (74-for-107). She also leads UCO with 45 steals, 1.9 per game.
 
McCarn averages 11.2 points per game and is second on the team in made field goals (107) behind Dillard. Her 41 made free-throws are also second on the team. McCarn plays the most minutes (30.5 per game) and averages 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
Bennett averages 8.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game this season. The sophomore ranks sixth in the MIAA in rebounding and is the leader in total blocks and blocks per game. Bennett ranks third in the country in total blocks and fourth in blocks per game. Her 95 blocks this season are the second most in school history. The record is 100 blocks by Jesheon Coooper in 2016-17.
 
Fouquet averages 8.4 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at 5.9 boards per game. She ranks second on the team with 18 made 3-pointers this season, just under one per game.
 
Central Oklahoma also gets 5.4 points per game from Olivia Quapaw, 4.0 from Peyton Walker, 3.8 from Kendrick Bailey, and 3.4 from Talia Pogi. Bailey leads the team lead in made 3-pointers (19). Pogi is tied with Fouquet with 18 makes. Quapaw, Walker, and McCarn all have 14 made threes.
 
Washburn is averaging 65.4 points per game and defensively gives up just 57.7 per contest. Yiibari Nwidadah (11.9), Payton Sterk (11.7), and Gabi Giovannetti (10.7) lead the team in scoring while Nwidadah (7.3) leads the team in rebounding.
 
Central Oklahoma has one more home game left this season. The Bronchos host Central Missouri Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Seniors will be honored prior to tipoff. UCO finishes the regular season on the road at Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State next week.
