Central Oklahoma Hosts Rogers State In MIAA Matchup

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts Rogers State Saturday afternoon in an MIAA matchup at Hamilton Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

UCO is 8-15 this season and has a 3-11 record in the MIAA. Rogers State is 9-14 overall with a 6-8 record in league play. The two met in December and RSU won 66-63. In the series that only dates back to 2019, UCO has a 12-1 lead.

Central Oklahoma is averaging 63.1 points per game this season. The Bronchos shoot 35.9 percent from the floor, 26.3 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 66.5 percent from the free-throw line. UCO averages 4.5 made 3-pointers per game and 11.6 made free-throws per game.

Defensively, Central allows an even 64.0 points per game with opponents shooting 36.6 percent overall against the Bronchos. Teams shoot 31.3 percent from behind the 3-point line and average 6.6 made threes per game. Opponents also shoot 71.2 percent at the free-throw line against UCO and average 12.0 made free-throws per game.

Nykaiya Dillard and Kaitlyn McCarn continue to lead UCO with both averaging double figures. Jerney Bennett and Bobbie Fouquet are both just under 10 points per game and are leading in rebounding and on defense.

Dillard averages 12.4 points per game coming off the bench. The freshman guard has made the most field goals (105) on the team and has made and taken the most free-throws (70-for-103). She also leads UCO with 43 steals, 1.9 per game.

McCarn averages 11.2 points per game and is second on the team in made field goals (102) behind Dillard. Her 40 made free-throws are also second on the team. McCarn plays the most minutes (30.9 per game) and averages 5.3 rebounds per game.

Bennett averages 8.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game this season. The sophomore ranks sixth in the MIAA in rebounding and is the leader in total blocks and blocks per game. Bennett ranks third in the country in total blocks and fourth in blocks per game. Her 91 blocks this season are the second most in school history. The record is 100 blocks by Jesheon Coooper in 2016-17.

Fouquet averages 8.4 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at 6.0 boards per game. She leads the team with 18 made 3-pointers this season, just under one per game.

Central Oklahoma also gets 5.4 points per game from Olivia Quapaw, 3.9 from Peyton Walker, 3.7 from Kendrick Bailey, and 3.0 from both Harley Harbour and Talia Pogi. Bailey is tied with Fouquet for the team lead in made 3-pointers (18). Quapaw, Walker, Pogi, and McCarn all have 14 made threes.

Rogers State is averaging 60.6 points per game and defensively gives up 66.2 per contest. Samantha Shanks leads the team in scoring at 9.2 points per game and is also the team's leading rebounder at 6.4 boards per game.

Central Oklahoma is starting a three-game homestand with the Rogers contest on Saturday. The Bronchos host Washburn and Central Missouri next week before finishing the regular season on the road at Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State.
