UCO Hires Luke Reynolds To Lead Rowing Program

EDMOND – UCO Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon announced Monday the department has hired Luke Reynolds to lead the women's rowing program.

"We are delighted to introduce Luke Reynolds as leader of our women's rowing program," Wagnon said. "His energy and passion are palpable, and I believe Luke is uniquely qualified to capitalize on this opportunity through both his vision to rally people behind a common cause and his determination to be a positive influence for our student-athletes."

Reynolds comes to Central Oklahoma from the private business sector and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the sport to the Broncho program.

"I'm honored to lead the Bronchos and build on the legacy of the coaches I've long respected in this program," Reynolds said. "I'm excited to work alongside our athletes as they uphold that legacy and shape the future of UCO rowing."

After receiving his degree from Oklahoma in 2016, where he served as captain of the crew team and president of the rowing club, Reynolds served for two years as head coach and manager at the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation from 2017-19. Reynolds then spent five years as managing editor of The Independent Rowing News from 2019-24.

Reynolds will get right to work this fall with Central Oklahoma beginning its fall season at the Head of the Oklahoma Oct. 4 in Oklahoma City.

Central Oklahoma has a short but storied history in women's rowing. The Bronchos began competing in 2008 and quickly became a major player in Division II. UCO made its first appearance at the national championships in 2012 and has returned to every championship since. Central won three consecutive national titles in 2018, 2019, and 2021 and has finished national runner-up three more times (2016, 2017, 2023). The UCO Varsity 8+ won four consecutive national championships from 2017-21 with runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2023. The UCO Varsity 4+ boat won back-to-back national titles in 2019 and 2021 with runner-up finishes in 2018, 2023, and 2025.
