Central Oklahoma Hosts Midwestern State In First Home Game Of 2025 Season

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma makes its 2025 home debut Thursday when the Bronchos host Midwestern State in a non-conference soccer match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

UCO is 0-1-1 this season after an opening weekend trip to Minnesota. The Bronchos played to a scoreless draw with the No. 3 team in the country, Minnesota State. Central then fell short 3-1 in a neutral-site contest with Augustana.

Midwestern State comes to Edmond with the same 0-1-1 record. The Mustangs of Wichita Falls, Texas were in Oklahoma last week and tied Southern Nazarene, 2-2. MSU then went to Arkansas and lost 3-2 at Ouachita Baptist.

"We know we need to be more consistent and focused and that's our goal for this week," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We played really well in the first game last week and had a chance to win it, but we didn't play at the same level in our second match. We need to find a consistent level of play that will give us a better chance."

Central Oklahoma took 21 shots in its first two matches and put seven on goal. Jordan Tanges scored the lone goal of the week for the Bronchos, smashing home a deflected ball from the top of the box coming off a corner kick. Rebekah George took a team-high six shots last week. Caleah Carter took four shots and put a team-high two on goal.

Avery Bass played all 180 minutes in goal for the Bronchos in Minnesota. The senior goalkeeper made eight saves and allowed three goals. Opponents took 15 total shots and put 11 on goal. Bass moved up to sixth on UCO's career saves list with 141, tying Melissa Penn (2002-03). Kaitlyn Asher, who Bass followed in goal three years ago, is fifth on that list with 169.

Midwestern State was outscored 5-4 last week, but the Mustangs put up an incredible 49 total shots in two games. MSU put 13 of those on goal. Four players score on goal each for Midwestern. Defensively, opponents took just 22 shots against MSU and put 10 shots on goal. Midwestern goalkeeper Lauren Short played all 180 minutes and made five saves while allowing five goals.

Central Oklahoma will make its home debut Thursday night and get right back on the road this weekend. UCO visits No. 7 Dallas Baptist on Saturday night. The Bronchos will also travel to Southern Nazarene next Wednesday before playing their second home contest Sunday, Sept. 21 against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
