Soccer Program Earns Team Academic Award

Central Oklahoma Well Above 3.0 Threshold For United Soccer Coaches Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma received the United Soccer Coaches' College Team Academic Award, it was announced Friday.

"We're proud of the girls for their work off the field," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "So much of their time goes into training, practice, travel, and games. They work harder outside of soccer and it's great they are recognized for that."

Nearly 700 teams (283 men's programs and 414 women's programs) posted a team grade point average of at least 3.0 during the 2024-25 academic calendar year, including Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos posted a 3.53 team GPA.

Central Oklahoma also excelled on the field, reaching the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship match and earning a spot in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship for the 16th time in school history. The Bronchos reached the Central Regional semifinals.

UCO is soon to open training camp ahead of the 2025 season. The Bronchos report August 12 and will have three scrimmages before opening the 2025 season in Minnesota. Central Oklahoma visits 2024 national runner-up Minnesota State in Mankato Sept. 5 and will also play Augustana (S.D.) that weekend in Mankato. The Bronchos play their home opener Sept. 11 against Midwestern State at Tom Thompson Field on campus.
