UCO Picked Second In MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll

Bronchos Receive Four First-Place Votes In Poll Of 13 League Head Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma was picked second in the MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll announced Friday.

UCO received four first-place votes and a total of 126 points in the poll of 13 league head coaches. Central Missouri also received four first-place votes and 132 total points to take the top spot in the preseason poll. Missouri Western was third (124 points), while two-time defending regular season champion Washburn, which received five first-place votes, was picked fourth with 123 points.

Amel Muhamedagic enters his second season as head women's soccer coach in 2025. He is in his 19th year with the program. The Bronchos have won 223 matches with Muhamedagic on the sideline (2007-24), including a 12-7-4 record last fall.

Central Oklahoma earned the No. 4 seed in the MIAA Championship and reached the final before losing 1-0. UCO then went to its 16th NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship, where it reached the Central Regional semifinal.

The Bronchos return 22 letter winners from last year's national tournament squad, including MIAA and Central Region Offensive Player of the Year Rebekah George. The graduate student scored a team-high 10 goals and dished out three assists last fall. Avery Bass also returns for her senior season after making 91 saves a year ago. That ranks second in school history for a single campaign. She has 133 career saves, seventh most in school history.

UCO began fall camp on Wednesday and will have three scrimmages before opening the 2025 regular season next month. Central Oklahoma begins with a non-conference match at 2024 national runner-up Minnesota State Sept. 5 in Mankato, Minn. The Bronchos will also play Augustana (S.D.) Sept. 7 in Mankato before returning to Edmond for the home opener Sept. 11 against Midwestern State.
