Central Oklahoma To Begin Search For New Head Women's Rowing Coach

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon announced Thursday interim head rowing coach Jimmy Francis resigned to accept another coaching position.

A search for the next head coach will begin immediately.

"We are grateful to Jimmy for his selfless service to UCO and its nationally prominent women's rowing program," Wagnon said. "Our program is in a better place because of his contributions, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

Francis joined UCO in 2022 and helped the team reach the NCAA Division II Rowing National Championships in each of the past four seasons. UCO finished fifth in 2022, national runners-up in 2023, third in 2024, and fifth this past season, including a national runner-up performance by the Varsity 4+ boat. Francis served as assistant rowing coach for his first three seasons and interim head coach this past season.

Central Oklahoma has become a national power in rowing, winning three national team titles, four Varsity 8+ national titles, and two Varsity 4+ national championships. The Bronchos have also finished national runner-up as a team three times. UCO has made 13 consecutive appearances at the national championships.
