UCO Rows For National Title This Weekend

Bronchos Competing Friday Morning In Preliminary Races, National Champion To Be Crowned Saturday

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Central Oklahoma continues its quest for a fourth national title this weekend at the 2025 NCAA Division II Rowing National Championships Friday and Saturday on Mercer Lake.

UCO is one of six teams competing for national titles in the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ boats. Cal Poly Humboldt, Western Washington, Embry-Riddle (Fla.), Seattle Pacific, and Thomas Jefferson (Pa.) all are in New Jersey to compete against Central Oklahoma.

"Being back at the NCAA Championship means a lot to this team," UCO interim head rowing coach Jimmy Francis said. "We've faced setbacks, grown through them, and earned our spot. Now we get to test ourselves on the biggest stage, and we're ready to give everything we've got for each other and for UCO."

Friday morning, two preliminary races in each boat will get the weekend started. The Broncho eights row at 9 a.m. (Eastern) in the first of two V8+ heats and the Broncho fours row at 9:36 a.m. in the second of two V4+ heats. The winner of each heat advances to the Grand Final Saturday while the four non-winning boats will row again Friday evening for the final spots in the Grand Final. Saturday, the Petite Finals are scheduled for 11 a.m. (Eastern) and 11:12 a.m., while the Grand Finals launch at 11:48 a.m. and 12 p.m.

UCO's eights will be led by Macie Cohlmia in the coxswain seat. Eva-Louisa Eschbach, Rachel Harris, Izzy Brown, Sawyer Schreiner, Raphaela Sanchez, Tierney Westermier, Gracie McConville, and Ksenia Mrsny make up the lineup.

UCO's fours are led by Sinead Quirke, with Victoria Petschnig, Anya Landrowski, Carlota Martinez, and Peyton Meiler making up the lineup.

The Bronchos are coming off a third-place finish in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships two weeks ago in Sacramento, California. UCO finished fourth in the eights and second in the fours to earn 19 team points for the third-place finish.

Central Oklahoma won its first national title in the Varsity 8+ boat in 2017, finishing second in the team standings. UCO won four consecutive national championships in the eights, with the latter three leading the way for three consecutive team national titles. The Bronchos have won national titles in the Varsity 4+ boat twice, in 2019 and 2021.

UCO finished third last season, with both the eights and fours finishing third in the championships.
