Central Oklahoma Begins Postseason Sunday

UCO To Play 54 Hole MIAA Championship Through Tuesday In Nebraska

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma begins its postseason Sunday morning with the 2025 MIAA Women's Golf Championships at Meadowlark Golf Club.

The 54-hole event is scheduled for 18 holes each day Sunday, Monday and Tuesday around the 5,908-yard Par 71 course.

UCO has six players competing including a substitute. The Bronchos have a five-person lineup of Scarlet Sturch, Layne Ailshie, Estela Castillo, MaKaylee Cowan, and Jirasuda Khunarak, while Josey Cavitt will also play as part of the individual race. Teams have the option to sub the sixth player into the five-person lineup after the first and second round.

Sturch has a 79.0 scoring average with 19 rounds played the season. The sophomore has two top 20 finishes, both 16th place, and one of those two at Meadowlark, where she posted a 9-over in the fall.

Freshman Ailshie has an 81.8 scoring average with 11 rounds of golf played this season. Her last time out last week and her 11-over was her best finish of the season.

Castillo is another sophomore and like Sturch has played in 19 rounds this season. She has a 78.4 scoring average. Castillo has one top 10, a seventh-place finish in Missouri in the fall. She played Meadowlark 12-over in September.

Cowan, also a sophomore, has been a top player for the Bronchos in the last stretch of the season. She brings a 77.9 scoring average into the MIAA Championships and has played 17 rounds for the Bronchos this season. Cowan has two top 20s including a fourth-place finish in Arkansas last month. She was 19-over in Nebraska in September.

Khunarak enters the postseason with a team-best 77.4 scoring average. The fifth-year senior and third-year Broncho has played in 80 rounds of golf for UCO. Khunarak has three top 20s this season and played Meadowlark a team-best 8-over par in the fall.

Cavitt adds an option for the Bronchos. She's played 11 rounds of golf in this her freshman season. She has an 80.9 scoring average. Cavitt did not play Meadowlark in the fall, but has a season-best 11-over finish from October in Missouri.

Central Oklahoma is hosting the next postseason event. The 2025 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships will take place May 5-7 at KickingBird Golf Club.
