Bronchos Begin Outdoor Season With Wins In Texas

Treasure Vallerie Wins Two Races At 91st Annual Prairie View A&M Relays

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Treasure Vallerie led Central Oklahoma in its first Outdoor Season track meet of 2025 with two wins at the 91st annual Prairie View A&M Relays Friday.
 
Vallerie picked up wins in both the 200-meter and 400-meter races.
 
"It was a good start to Outdoor season," UCO women's track & field head coach Gus Schmader said. "We got near some school records and had a good showing. There's a lot of season left in front of us to keep this up."
 
Vallerie was one of eight Bronchos in the 200-meters and took top honors with a time of 24.66 seconds. Sai Brookins-Fleming was second at the slimmest of margins, 24.69 seconds. Kerrigan Huynh (25.56) and Genevieve Young (25.89) also finished in the top 10.
 
Reta Ojene (26.83), Faith Millner (27.32), Mikayla Stephenson (27.51), and Karly Clemons (28.79) also competed.
 
In the 400, Vallerie took top honors again with a time of 55.97 seconds, and was again narrowly followed by Brookins-Fleming, who finished second at 56.11 seconds. Young was fourth (59.52) and Millner ninth (1:01.27) to give UCO four in the Top 10 again.
 
Ojene (1:02.04) and Tyana Hymes (1:03.34) also competed.
 
Huynh led the group of four Bronchos running in the 100-meter dash. She finished fifth with a time of 12.30 seocnds. Stephenson (12.97), Clemons (13.33), and Mattison Thetford (13.70) also competed.
 
In the 800m, Maddie Gaxiola led the way with a sixth-place finish at 2:30.41 while Asia Williams finished ninth at 2:33.72.
 
Williams led UCO in the 1,500 meters, finishing fourth in 5:15.12. Ariane Williams joined her and finished fifth in 5:29.76, and Kylee Smith also competed and finished 12th in 5:47.05.
 
Deriayah Lee competed in two hurdle events and finished in second place in both races. In the 100-meter hurdles, Lee crossed the finish line second in 14.43 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Lee was second in 1:05.24.
 
Talyn Been was UCO's lone placer in field events, taking a fourth-place finish in the pole vault with a 2.90-meter mark. Thetford attempted 2.75 meters but missed the mark.
 
Central Oklahoma has six Outdoor meets on its 2025 schedule, with two next weekend. A partial squad will go to the Texas Relays in Austin while others will compete at the OBU Invitational in Shawnee. UCO also competes at OU April 4, Wichita State April 11-12, and Arkansas on April 25.
