Central Finishes 13th In Destin

Bronchos Wrap Up Emerald Coast Collegiate Tuesday In Florida

DESTIN, Fla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the 54-hole Emerald Coast Collegiate Tuesday with a 13th place finish in the team standings.
 
UCO posted a 912 (312-304-305). Flagler won the team title with an 844, West Texas A&M finished second with an 858, and West Florida finished third with an 877. Embry Riddle (885), Missouri St. Louis (886), and St. Mary's (886), rounded out the top five teams.
 
Flagler was the only school to shoot under par, 8-under for the tournament. The Saints shot a 3-over before rounds of 8-under and 3-under to finish the tournament.
 
Estela Castillo was Central Oklahoma's top finisher, posting a 15-over-par 228 for a 39th-place finish. The sophomore posted her best round, 2-over 73, on Tuesday. After starting on the back nine and making the turn at 3-over-par, Castillo birdied Nos. 1 & 5 and was 1-under on the front nine to finish with the 73.
 
Scarlet Sturch was one shot back with a 16-over 229. The sophomore from Durant, Oklahoma posted rounds of 76 and 74 on Monday and followed with a 79 on Tuesday. In the final round, Sturch started on No. 8, and sank birdie putts on Nos. 12 and 1. Sturch finished in 40th place on the individual leaderboard.
 
UCO's third sophomore in the lineup, MaKaylee Cowan, finished 56th individually. She was four back of Sturch with a 20-over 233. Cowan also shot an 8-over-par 79 on Tuesday with 10 pars and eight bogeys.
 
Jirasuda Khunarak finished 68th with a 236, posting rounds of 83 and 77 on Monday before a 76 on Tuesday. Josey Cavitt finished 74th individually with a 238, posting rounds of 80 and 81 on Monday and a 77 on Tuesday.
 
Central Oklahoma is off for two weeks and has just two tournaments left on the regular season schedule. The Bronchos visit Hardscrabble Golf Course in Fort Smith, Arkansas for the UAFS Lion Classic March 24-25. The Bronchos will play Shangri-La on Grand Lake for the Spring Regional event hosted by Central Missouri April 7-8.
 
The 2025 MIAA Women's Golf Championships will be held April 13-15 at Meadowlark Hills in Kearney, Nebraska. UCO is hosting the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships May 5-7 at KickingBird Golf Club.
