Central Finishes Fourth In Midwest Classic

Bronchos Play First 54 Hole Tournament Of Season In Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma finished the Midwest Classic in fourth place, wrapping up the 54-hole event Tuesday at Mules National Golf Club at the University of Central Missouri.
 
UCO shot a team score of 898 and tied with Washburn for fourth place. Central Missouri won the team title at its home course with an 871. Arkansas Tech finished second with an 880 and Rogers State was third with an 888.
 
Layne Ailshie was UCO's high finisher at 11th place with a 12-over-par 222. The sophomore shot a 2-over 72 Monday morning and a 6-over 76 on Monday afternoon before finishing with a 4-over 74 on Tuesday.
 
Grace Hall was one shot back in 16th place individually. The freshman from Austin, Texas shot a 223, posting a 1-over 71 and a 6-over 76 on Monday before finishing with a 6-over 76 on Tuesday.
 
Juniors MaKaylee Cowan (227), Estela Castillo (229), and Scarlet Sturch (229) also were in the lineup.
 
Cowan shot a 73, 75, 79 this week. Castillo posted rounds of 77, 74, 78. And Sturch shot a 77, 76, 76, in the tournament.
 
UCO has one more tournament on the schedule this fall and it will be the third in as many weeks for the Bronchos. Central travels to St. Josseph, Missouri for the Regional Preview next week at St. Joseph Country Club.
