Central Is Fourth At Regional Preview

Bronchos Led By Junior Estela Castillo's Second Place Position

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Central Oklahoma is halfway through the Regional Preview at St. Joseph Country Club and the Bronchos are fourth in the team standings after 18 holes of play.

Estela Castillo led the Bronchos and is in second place individually after shooting a 1-over-par 73 on Monday. UCO posted a team score of 311. Southwestern Oklahoma State and Harding are tied for first after rounds of 308. Arkansas Fort Smith is right in front of UCO at 310 and Sioux Falls rounds out the top five after a round of 319.

Castillo is one shot back of UAFS's Lauren Evans, who posted an even-par 72 on Monday. A junior from Spain, Castillo started the day with back-to-back bogeys and was 3-over after four holes. But she played the next eight 2-under and later finished the day with a birdie on the Par 5 sixth hole to close out the round with a 73.

Grace Hall is also in the top 10, tied for ninth after a round of 5-over 77. She started the day with a double and was 4-over after five holes. She responded with a birdie on No. 13, a Par 3, and another on No. 2, a Par 4 before finishing with a 77 on the day.

Scarlet Sturch shot an 8-over-par 80 on Monday and is in 31st place individually. Layne Ailshie and MaKaylee Cowan both shot 9-over 81s Monday and are tied for 36th individually. Sturch added two birdies and Ailshie had one. UCO had eight birdies in the round and no Bronchos birdied the same hole.

Central Oklahoma will tee off Tuesday morning for the second and final round of the tournament. It's the final tournament of the fall semester for the Bronchos. Missouri Western is hosting the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships in May.
