Sydney Ward Tosses Perfect Game, UCO Wins Twice In Branson

Bronchos Get 3-0 Win Over Lincoln Before 11-0 Run-Rule Over Winona State

BRANSON, Mo. – Sydney Ward struck out 11 batters throwing a perfect game as No. 13 Central Oklahoma beat Lincoln 3-0 Saturday. UCO came back with an 11-0 win over Winona State to wrap up the Branson Showtime Classic 4-0.

Central Oklahoma improved to 18-3 with the two wins. The Bronchos went 9-1 this week – Sunday through Saturday – with a 5-1 performance earlier this week in Kansas preceding the 4-0 stint in Branson.

"It was a good week for us, a busy week, and we're glad to be going home," UCO head softball coach Cody White said. "Sydney was great today and we are all really excited for her. A perfect game is something special she always remember. We all picked it up to get two more wins today."

Ward retired all 21 batters in order Saturday afternoon, earning 11 strikeouts on the day. She fanned two in the first, all three in the second, and one more in the third. Ward struck out two more in the fifth, one more in the sixth, and two more in the final frame to get to 11. She had seven groundouts and three flyouts in addition to the Ks.

UCO got all three runs in one inning to get past Lincoln. Rylee Lemos, Rylee Anglen, and Kennedy Clark each had singles to start the inning. Lemos scored on Clark's base knock. Emily Deramus and Ariah Mitchell then hit back-to-back sacrifice-flies to score Anglen and Clark and give UCO the 3-0 lead.

Terin Ritz tossed a complete-game win Saturday evening to as the Bronchos got plenty of offense to produce a 10th run rule of the season. Ritz allowed seven hits and one walk, but struck out five batters to get the win.

Clark's RBI single in the first scored Lemos. Mitchell hit a two-RBI single in the third to score Ritz and Macie Andrews to give UCO a 3-0 lead.

Mitchell singled again in the fifth, scoring Ritz again to make it 4-0. Then Makenzie Fithian smacked a three-run home run to score Mitchell and Deramus and put the Bronchos ahead 7-0.

Clark added another RBI single in the sixth, scoring Lemos again. Deramus capped off the week with a three-run home run in the sixth to make it 11-0.
