Central Oklahoma Begins Postseason Sunday

Bronchos Visit Central Missouri For MIAA Soccer Championship Quarterfinals

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma begins the postseason against Central Missouri Sunday afternoon in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from UCM's South Rec Complex.
 
"It's a new season and it's a one-game season," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "Everything before this doesn't matter anymore. We just need to go out there and give it our best, play our game, and be completely focused on this one chance we have. One game at a time."
 
Central Oklahoma went 8-5-5 this season with a 6-3-3 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos earned the No. 6 seed in the league's eight-team postseason tournament. Central Missouri went 10-4-4 this season with a 7-2-3 record in the MIAA and earned the No. 3 seed for the playoffs.
 
The two teams met in the regular season Oct. 17 in Edmond and played to a scoreless draw. Central Oklahoma recorded 10 shutouts in 18 games this season and four of those were 0-0 contests.
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 1.17 goals per game this season and gives up an average of 0.89 goals per game. The Bronchos take on average 14.1 shots and put 49.8 percent of its shots on target. UCO's defense allows just 9.3 shots per game and opponents put an even 50 percent of shots on goal.
 
Jordan Tanges leads the Bronchos with four goals scored this season. Caleah Carter and Jane Lockhart have three goals each and Rebekah George, Lauren Piper, and Evelyn Sydnes all have two goals.
 
George leads the team – and the MIAA – with six assists. Carter and Piper have two assists each.
 
Avery Bass leads UCO's defensive efforts in goal. The senior keeper has 63 saves and 10 shutouts. She's allowed 15 goals, a 0.85 goals against average, and has an 80.8 save percentage. Bass is 8-5-5 in goal this season.
 
Central Missouri welcomes UCO to Warrnesburg averaging 2.1 goals per game this season. The Jennies average 13.3 shots per game. UCM has conceded only nine goals all year, an average of 0.5 per game, and opponents only manage 9.0 shots per game against Central Mo.
 
The MIAA Women's Soccer Championship continues Thursday, Nov. 13 in Wichita, Kansas with the semifinals and the league championship is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Stryker Soccer Complex.
