UCO Finishes Fall With Strong Performance In Wichita

Bronchos Pick Up Wins In Several Boats As Fall Season Concludes

WICHITA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma swept first and second in the women's open 8+ and added wins in the women's open 4+, 2x and 2- at Sunday's Wichita Frostbite Regatta on the Arkansas River.

UCO also completed the lightweight 4+ uncontested and placed three athletes in the top 10 of the women's open single.

"Thanks to all the hard work and dedication of our crew, we were rewarded at our last race of the season with various victories," team captain Eva-Louisa Eschbach said. "I'm excited to see how this momentum carries over into championship season."

The Bronchos opened the morning in small boats, with Christine Ruff taking second in the women's open 1x, followed by freshman Ava Andrews in sixth and coxswain-turned-sculler Saleana Tipton getting valuable course experience in her first Frostbite single.

UCO's varsity four, stroked by junior Carlota Martinez, led a deep collegiate/club field to win the women's open 4+, with a second UCO four also finishing on the podium. The Bronchos later added a lightweight 4+ win, an afternoon victory in the women's double (Riley Jewell and Rapha Sanchez), and a sweep of the top two spots in the women's pair.

Racing closed with the eights, where Central Oklahoma put two boats on the course and finished 1-2 in the women's open 8+, capping a full-roster day on the Little Arkansas.

Sunday's racing was the first road test of the 2025-26 season for Central Oklahoma and the final of the fall semester. The Bronchos return in the spring with the schedule to be announced soon.
