UCO Takes Over Top Ranking In Website Poll

Bronchos Have Eight Ranked Individuals, Including Two No. 1s

EDMOND – A pair of No. 1 individuals lifted Central Oklahoma to the top of the NCAA Division II tournament rankings issued by theopenmat.com Wednesday.

Jason Henschel moved into the No. 1 spot at 133 pounds and two-time defending national champion Gabe Johnson maintained his perch atop the field at 157. The Bronchos have six other individuals in the top 20 at their weight and finished with 81.5 points in the weekly poll by the wrestling-only website.

Nebraska-Kearney is second with 75.5 points, followed by Lander (58), Pittsburgh-Johnstown (56) and Wisconsin-Parkside (54). The Lopers stayed No. 1 in the dual rankings with Lander, UCO, St. Cloud State and Wisconsin-Parkside rounding out the top five.

Garrett Wells is ranked third at 197 points, while 184 Branson Britten is fifth, 125 Guy Clevenger sixth, 141 Josh Taylor eighth, 174 Hunter Jump 14th and Hvy Judson Rowland 16th.

The website also ranks the top 10 best individuals regardless of weight, with Johnson listed second behind Lander 165-pounder David Hunsberger.

The Bronchos, 3-1 on the dual season, return to action next Wednesday, Dec. 3 with a 7 p.m. home dual against MIAA rival Newman.
