UCO Closes Fall Schedule In Wichita

Bronchos Racing In Annual Frostbite Regatta Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma concludes its fall season Sunday when the Bronchos line up at the Wichita Frostbite Regatta on the Little Arkansas River.

UCO is set to race across the day in a wide range of events, including three women's singles, a women's double, two women's pairs, three fours (Varsity 4+, 2V 4+, and Lightweight 4+), and three eights (Varsity 8+, 2V 8+, and 3V 8+).

"This is a good fall test for us," UCO head women's rowing coach Luke Reynolds said. "Head of the Oklahoma gave us a baseline. Wichita lets us see more of the roster, in more boat classes, on the road. If we can keep our rhythm in the small boats early and close the day with disciplined eights, that's the standard we're aiming for."

The Bronchos will open with small boats to emphasize technique and boat feel before moving into big boats. Later in the day, UCO will send out three eights, giving the staff a fuller picture of the squad's depth ahead of winter training.

Sunday's regatta is the second fall outing for Central Oklahoma and the first away from Oklahoma City. The Bronchos are building toward the spring championship season after a strong tradition that includes NCAA Division II titles in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

Central Oklahoma returns in the spring for its championship season.
