Bronchos Continue Road Trip At Fort Hays State

Central Oklahoma Plays At Hays, Nebraska Kearney This Weekend

HAYS, Kan. – Central Oklahoma continues a four-game road trip Friday night when the Bronchos take on Fort Hays State in an MIAA matchup.
 
UCO is 2-4-4 on the season and 0-2-2 in the MIAA. The Bronchos are looking to return to the win column for the first time in three weeks and also looking get on the scoreboard for the first time in the same window.
 
Central Oklahoma has scored six goals in 10 games this season, with none coming in conference play (four games). The Bronchos beat Southwestern Oklahoma State 1-0 on Sept. 21 and haven't scored since (370 minutes).
 
The lack of scoring is not for a lack of trying. The Bronchos have taken 118 shots this season, 11.8 per game, and UCO has put 41.5 percent of its shots on goal. Central has taken 37 shots in the last four games, just under its season average, and put 21 on goal, just over five per game.
 
Jordan Tanges continues to lead UCO with two goals while Rebekah George, Caleah Carter, Elena Conaway, and Kaitlyn Cotton all have one goal each.
 
Carter is the team's leading shot taker, with 20 total shots and seven on goal. George has taken 14 shots and put three on goal. Rebecca Tweedy has taken 11 shots and also put three on goal. Conaway's six shots on goal trails only Carter.
 
Defense has not been an issue for the Bronchos this fall. UCO has allowed 12 goals in 10 games, 1.2 per contest. The Bronchos only give up 9.6 shots per game and teams are putting 54.2 percent of 96 total shots on goal.
 
Avery Bass has played all 900 minutes in goal this season. The senior keeper from Broken Arrow has made 40 saves and allowed the 12 goals. Bass has four shutouts this season and has 16 in her career at UCO.
 
Fort Hays State is 2-6-1 this season with an 0-3-1 record in the MIAA. The Tigers have scored 14 goals, 1.5 per game, and average 11.6 shots per game. FHSU has conceded 16 goals on the season, 1.7 per game, and gives up on average 11.3 shots per game. Senior forward Sydney Cotter has six goals and junior forward Chaley French has four.
 
Hays has used two goalkeepers in nine games, with freshman Hadley Ostrander starting eight games. She has made 30 saves and given up 11 goals. Senior Jamie Kerkvliet has one start and in two games played has nine saves with five goals allowed.
 
Central Oklahoma will continue on and wrap up the road trip Sunday afternoon with an MIAA matchup at Nebraska Kearney. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. UNK is 2-4-3 on the year overall and 0-1-3 in league play. The Lopers host Newman Friday night. Kearney has just five goals in nine games and has given up eight.
 
The Bronchos make their return to Edmond next weekend with matchups against No. 9 Central Missouri (5-2-3, 0-2-0) and Missouri Southern (2-5-3, 0-2-2).
