UCO Hosts Grace Shin Invitational Monday & Tuesday

Bronchos Hosting 19 Teams In Home Event Presented By Visit Edmond

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts the Grace Shin Invitational presented by Visit Edmond Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club of Edmond.

The 36-hole event named in memory of Grace Shin, who played for the Bronchos from 2016-19, takes place each October and this year consists of 19 teams from around the region.

UCO and Visit Edmond welcome MIAA programs Central Missouri, Missouri Western, Newman, Northwest Missouri, and Pittsburg State. GAC programs Oklahoma Baptist, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Henderson State, Arkansas Tech, and East Central will also be competing. Northern Sun programs Concordia St. Paul, Minnesota State, and Winona State are in the field. Drury (Great Lakes Valley Conference) and Redlands Community College round out the field.

"It's a big tournament and gives us a good look at the teams we're matched up with regionally," UCO head women's coach Michael Bond said. "This tournament will show us early on where we stack up regionally and show us where we need to be in the spring."

Nine of the programs in this week's tournament competed in the 2025 NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship in Edmond in May.

This will be Central Oklahoma's second tournament of the season. The Bronchos finished 10th at the Dallas Baptist Classic two weeks ago.

Freshman Grace Hall led the Bronchos with an even-par 144, shooting a 1-under 71 and a 1-over 73 in her first two career rounds of college golf. MaKaylee Cowan shot a 7-over 151 (77-74) and Layne Ailshie and Estela Castillo both shot 8-over 152s. Scarlet Sturch added a 14-over 158.

All five in the lineup in Dallas will make up the UCO lineup this week in Edmond. The Bronchos will also see the debuts of freshmen Faith Principato and Reagan Plank. Principato is a high school teammate of Hall's from Austin. The duo led Lake Travis to a third-place finish in Texas' Class 6A in 2025.  Plank came to Edmond from Owasso High School. She led her team to a fourth-place finish in Oklahoma's Class 6A and finished eighth individually at the state championships in the spring.

Central Oklahoma is playing four fall tournaments this year and will be halfway through that portion of its schedule following the Grace Shin Invitational. UCO is playing in the Midwest Classic Oct. 13-14 at Mules National in Warrensburg, Missouri, and the Regional Preview Oct. 20-21 at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri.
