Bronchos Host Pitt State Friday Afternoon

Central Oklahoma Tangles With Gorillas In Key MIAA Matchup

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts Pittsburg State in a crucial MIAA match Friday afternoon as both teams fight for position in the postseason.

UCO is 7-4-5 on the season with a 5-2-3 record in the MIAA. Pitt State is 11-2-2 overall with a 6-1-2 record in league play. The regular season ends in one week and the top four teams in the final standings host a playoff game. Currently, PSU is fourth and UCO fifth.

Central Oklahoma concludes the regular season next Wednesday at home against Newman. Pitt State plays at Central Missouri this weekend and at Missouri Southern to wrap up the regular season next Wednesday.

UCO is unbeaten (5-0-2) in its last seven matches and has recorded six shutouts in the span. The Bronchos are allowing just 0.88 goals per game, having conceded 14 in 16 games this season.

Senior goalkeeper Avery Bass leads the MIAA with nine shutouts this season and ranks seventh in the country in clean sheets. She's allowed 13 goals in 16 games played, 0.82 per game, and has 61 saves on the season.

Bass is up to 194 career saves, which ranks third in UCO history. Carly Fischer made 252 saves from 2004-07 and Brandi Bartley saved 199 shots from 2011-14. Bass's 91 saves last season are the second most in a single season in UCO history. She needs nine more this season to get into the top 10 for a second time.

Central Oklahoma on offense has scored 19 goals in 16 games, averaging 1.19 per contest. The Bronchos had a rare four-game scoreless streak in the middle of the season but have scored 13 goals in the last six games, just over two per contest.

Rebekah George leads the Bronchos with nine points on the season, coming from a pair of goals and a team-high five assists. She leads the MIAA in assists. Jordan Tanges has a team-high four goals. Caleah Carter is second on the team with three goals.

Jane Lockhart and Evelyn Sydnes, and George, have two goals each. Lauren Piper, Kaitlyn Cotton, Elena Conaway, Jaci Decker, Emma Fioretti, and Rebecca Tweedy all have one goal each.

Pittsburg State started its program in 2024 and Central Oklahoma won the inaugural meeting 1-0 in Pittsburg, Kan. The Gorillas have quickly moved into a contender position this season by averaging 2.1 goals per game and giving up only 10 all season.

Pitt holds opponents to just 5.4 shots per game and teams have put 43 of 81 total shots against the Gorillas on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Jocelyn Kramar has eight shutouts on the season and has only allowed seven goals in 15 games. Four players lead Pitt with four goals each.
