UCO Leads Suspended MSSU Invite

Bronchos Finish 36 Holes, Look To Wrap Up Third Win Tuesday

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Central Oklahoma is in first place after two trips around Shangri-La Monday at the Missouri Southern State Fall Invitational.
 
Play was suspended due to darkness in the second round. The Bronchos completed 36 holes but a handful of programs weren't able to.
 
Central Oklahoma shot a 571, shaving 15 strokes off its first-round score of 293 with a second-round 278. Winona State, Missouri Western, and Washburn did not finish but are second, third, and fourth respectively in the standings. Central Missouri is fifth after a 607 (307-296).
 
UCO's first-round 293 was the only sub-300 round. Washburn had the second lowest at 306 as teams battled through windy conditions most of the day.
 
Baylor Bostick is in first place individually after shooting a 4-under-par 140. He was 1-over after the first round but posted a 5-under 67 to rebound and take the lead. Bostick started on No. 17 with five consecutive pars. He birdied No. 4 then was back to even after a bogey on No. 5. Bostick would play the next five holes 3-under and sank two birdie putts on the last three holes to get to 5-under in the round. The junior from Duncan, Oklahoma sank 10 birdies on 36 holes Monday.
 
Bryant Polhill is two back in second place after a 2-under 142. He shot an even-par 72, countering five birdies with five bogeys and eight par putts Monday morning. In the second round, the sophomore from Edmond started with a birdie, but had a stretch of three bogeys on four holes. There was a birdie in that stretch, then three more to finish 2-under and secure a second-place position heading into Tuesday's final round.
 
Nick Canales is ninth individually after to very different rounds of golf on Monday. He struggled in the first round and shot 8-over par. However, in the second round he recorded a 4-under 68 to move up the leaderboard. Canales started on No. 15 and was 2-under going to the front nine. He played that even with two bogeys on No. 3 and No. 5 and two birdies on No. 7 and No. 9. Canales finished the day with back-to-back birdies on No. 13 and No. 14 to get to 4-under in the round and 4-over in the tournament.
 
Rhett Hughes is 16th individually after a 36-hole 149. The sophomore from Edmond shot 1-under in the first round, finishing with an eagle on the Par 5 16th. He added four birdies in the opening round. In the second round, Hughes was 6-over par.
 
Karsten Paciotti rounded out the UCO lineup with a 150 on Monday. He shot a 5-over 77 and followed with a 1-over 73. Brock Jerman is also competing as an individual and is the only UCO player not to finish. He shot a 5-over 77 in the first round and is 11-over in round two with one hole left to play. He will started on No. 13 to finish the second round Tuesday morning before moving into the third and final round.
 
UCO looks to win its third tournament in four appearances this fall. The one tournament Central didn't win, the Bronchos got second place with a 54-hole school record 810.
 
Central Oklahoma wraps up the MSSU Fall Invite on Tuesday and wraps up the fall semester with the DBU Classic next week in Rockwall, Texas.
