UCO Hosts Central Missouri Friday Night

Bronchos Welcome No. 9 Ranked Jennies To Edmond

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returns to the home pitch at Tom Thompson Field this weekend for a pair of MIAA matches. Up first is No. 9 Central Missouri Friday at 7 p.m.

UCO is 4-4-4 this season and 2-2-2 in the MIAA. The Jennies from Warrensburg, Missouri are 7-2-3 on the year with a 4-0-2 record in league play. Central Oklahoma will also host Missouri Southern (2-7-3, 0-4-2 MIAA) Sunday at 1 p.m.

"It's good to be back home," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We have a big one on Friday night and we're going to have to play our best, but we know we have the ability. It's just about execution and finding a way to get it done."

Central Oklahoma is searching for its first win against UCM since 2019. The Jennies are 7-0-1 against UCO in the last four seasons. The Bronchos played UCM to a 0-0 draw in Edmond in 2023, the last time Central Missouri made the trip to Tom Thompson Field.

Last week, Central Oklahoma earned two wins and ended a rare scoreless streak in doing so. The Bronchos beat Fort Hays State 2-0 on Friday night and Nebraska Kearney 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Jane Lockhart scored two goals, both on Sunday, and Caleah Carter, Jordan Tanges, and Rebecca Tweedy all added one goal for the Bronchos.

UCO is averaging 0.92 goals per game this season, a mark marred by the four-game drought. The Bronchos are taking 12.3 shots per game and put 45.9 percent of those shots on goal.

Tanges leads the team with three goals. Carter and Lockhart have two each. Rebekah George, Kaitlyn Cotton, Elena Conaway, and Tweedy all have one each. Carter has the team high 28 shots taken and has put more on goal (13) than any other Broncho.

Defensively, Central Oklahoma allows an even 1.0 goal per game having conceded 12 in 12 games played. The Bronchos hold opponents to 9.5 shots per game with 50.9 percent landing on goal.

Avery Bass leads the defensive efforts having played all 1,080 minutes in goal this season. In 12 games, the senior has six shutouts. She's allowed 12 goals and made 46 saves. Bass has 179 career saves and ranks fourth in school history. She's just two shy of No. 3 on the list and 20 away from No. 2 all time.

Central Missouri comes to Edmond averaging 2.3 goals per game through 12 games played this season. The Jennies have scored 28 goals this season and allowed just seven, 0.58 per game.
