Central Oklahoma Hosts Southern Nazarene

Bronchos Wrap Up Three-Game Homestand Wednesday Night

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma wraps up a three-game homestand Wednesday night with the Bronchos hosting Southern Nazarene in a non-conference soccer match at Tom Thompson Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is 2-2-0 on the young season, having alternated wins and losses through the first two weeks of play. UCO beat Southwestern Oklahoma State before a loss at Midwestern State, then took down Angelo State last week before a loss to No. 12-ranked Dallas Baptist.

Southern Nazarene is 1-1-1 through two weeks of play. The Crimson Storm opened the new season with a tie against Northwest Missouri. Last week, SNU lost to Texas Woman's before earning a win over upstart Pittsburg State. Wednesday will mark the first away contest for Southern Nazarene.

Central Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene have only played six times on the soccer field and the Bronchos own a 6-0-0 advantage in the series. The teams played in 2002, 2006, 2011, 2015, 2016, and 2019. UCO has outscored SNU 33-5 in the six matches.

This season, Central Oklahoma is averaging 2.75 goals per game after four games played. The Bronchos have put 11 shots in the back of the net. UCO averages 16.8 shots per game and puts 55 percent of its shots on goal.

Defensively, the Bronchos are giving up 2.5 goals per game having allowed 10 in four games. Teams shoot 11.5 times per game against UCO and put 58 percent of shots on goal.

Rebekah George, a graduate transfer midfielder, leads the team with three goals scored in four games. She put two in the back of the net last week. The Choctaw, Oklahoma native also has one assist on the season.

Caleah Carter has two goals and one assist this season. The true freshman from Edmond has started all four games up top and is second on the team with 12 shots taken through four games.

Jordan Hahn leads team with 14 shots taken. She is one of six players with one goal scored. Rebecca Tweedy, Harmony Turner, Callie Harbert, Evelyn Sydnes, and Jordan Tanges each have one goal scored this season.

Hahn and Tweedy lead the Bronchos with two assists each. George, Carter, Turner, and Madison Linavong and Sheridan Ross, all have one assist each.

Avery Bass has started all four games in goal for the Bronchos and has played 291 minutes. She is 1-2-0 with a 2.78 goals against average. Bass has made 16 saves to 42 shots faced. Olivia Vigil has played in two games for a total of 68 minutes. She has one goal allowed and one save with four total shots faced.

Central Oklahoma will get back on the road this weekend, albeit four miles south at Oklahoma Christian. The Bronchos play their OKC counterpart Sunday at 8:15 p.m. UCO will open MIAA play next weekend on the road with matches Friday at Washburn and Sunday at Emporia State.
