Central Oklahoma Hosts Angelo State

Bronchos Take On Rambelles In Non-Conference Clash

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma makes its home debut Thursday night when the Bronchos host Angelo State for a non-conference soccer match at Tom Thompson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is 1-1 on the young season. The Bronchos beat Southwestern Oklahoma State last week in the season opener before falling to Midwestern State on Sunday. Angelo State comes to Edmond with a 1-0 record after beating Oklahoma Baptist last week in its only contest of opening week.

"Angelo always has a competitive team and we are going to have to play our best to get a good result," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We played really well in both games last week. Even though Sunday's didn't work in our favor, I was pleased with our effort. We need to keep that up this week."

Central posted four goals in the opener and one in the second contest to average 2.5 goals per game heading into Week 2. The Bronchos took 36 shots in two games, with 18 shots on goal.

Caleah Carter leads the team with two goals. The freshman forward scored both in the second half of UCO's win at Southwestern Oklahoma State. Harmony Turner, Rebekah George, and Evelyn Sydnes each have one goal.

Rebecca Tweedy's two assists lead the team. Turner has one as well. The Bronchos have three assists on five goals this season.

Avery Bass has spent the most minutes in goal, starting both games last week. She played 66 minutes against SWOSU and made a pair of saves without allowing a goal. She played the full 90 at MSU and allowed three goals on 14 shots faced. Bass has eight saves in two games played. Olivia Vigil played the final 24 minutes of UCO's win at SWOSU and allowed one goal.

Angelo State won 3-0 in its opener with Oklahoma Baptist. The Rambelles took 18 shots and put six on goal. Madison Maxey, Kailee Meyer, and Graycen Rasmussen each scored for ASU. Nelah Coleman had an assist in the game. And Amber Lockwood played the full 90 in goal and made one save against the five shots faced.

UCO has a 9-4-2 record against Angelo State dating back to 1998. The Bronchos and the Rambelles tied, 3-3, in 2023.

Central Oklahoma will remain home for the weekend. The Bronchos are hosting 12th-ranked Dallas Baptist on Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. kickoff. UCO will also host Southern Nazarene next week, with Wednesday's midweek non-conference match kicking off at 7 p.m. to wrap up the three-game homestand.
