Dahsauni Lyday Earns Fourth All-MIAA Finish At Outdoor Championships

Central Oklahoma Relay Team Breaks School Record At MIAA Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Dahsauni Lyday earned All-MIAA honors in the shot put and the Bronchos broke another relay school record to highlight Central Oklahoma's time at the 2024 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.
 
Lyday earned All-MIAA honors for the fourth time in her career. The senior from Wagoner, Oklahoma is now a three-time outdoor All-MIAA thrower. She finished third in the shot put Saturday with a 14.56-meter throw.
 
Lyday also threw a career-best 49.11 meters in the hammer throw and finished 10th this weekend.
 
UCO's record book has seen quite an adjustment this season. Lyday is included in that with a new school record two weeks ago. Sunday, another relay record was broken.
 
Kelsey Drapeau, Treasure Vallerie, Kerrigan Huynh, and Sai Brookins-Fleming ran the 4x100-meter relay in 47.01 seconds, finishing seventh place in the championship race. That mark broke the previous school record of 47.15 seconds set in 2015.
 
Central's 4x400 relay team also broke a school record (3:47.91) earlier this season. On Sunday, the group of Brookins-Fleming, Huynh, Vallerie, and Deriayah Lee finished eighth at the MIAA Championships with a time of 3:50.84.
 
UCO finished 11th in the team standings with 14 points. Lyday added six and the relay teams added a combined three points. Vallerie added three more in the 200 meters and Drapeau added two in the long jump.
 
On Saturday, Vallerie ran the 200 prelims to a fourth-place finish (24.35 seconds). Sunday, the freshman from San Antonio raced to a sixth-place finish in the MIAA Championships in 24.46 seconds.
 
She also competed in the 400 this weekend and finished ninth with a season-best 55.88 seconds, which is a provisional qualifying standard.
 
Drapeau competed in the long jump on Saturday and the senior from Elgin, Oklahoma reached 5.69 meters for a seventh-place finish in the championships.
 
The Bronchos spent the weekend in Maryville competing in a dozen events.
 
Brookins-Fleming also competed in the 100 prelims and finished 11th with a time of 12.03 seconds. The freshman from Mesquite, Texas ran the 200 and finished 13th with a time of 25.00 seconds flat.
 
Lee also raced in a pair of hurdles prelims and the freshman from Muskogee, Oklahoma finished ninth in both. She took on the 100-meter hurdles in 14.93 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.16. It's the second time this season Lee has ran a season-best 14.93 in the 100 hurdles.
 
Genevieve Young, a junior from Cache, Oklahoma, ran an season-best in the 800 in 2:18.84, finishing 14th in the prelims.
