Bronchos Finish Seventh At MIAA Championships

UCO Senior Mika Ramos Leads Bronchos With Top 10 Finish

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Central Oklahoma finished seventh in the 2024 MIAA Women's Golf Championships that wrapped up Wednesday at Silo Ridge Golf Club.

UCO posted a 54-hole total 932 (314-314-304). Central Missouri won the team title with a 907. Rogers State (916), Northeastern State (918), Missouri Southern (920), and Missouri Western (924) rounded out the top five teams. Nebraska Kearney (928) was sixth in front of UCO.

Mika Ramos led the Bronchos with a 54-hole 12-over-par 228. The senior posted back-to-back rounds of 5-over 77 on Monday and Tuesday before finishing the tournament with a 2-over-par 74 on Wednesday.

Ramos had a birdie on the Par 5 third hole and was 2-over after the front nine. She played the back nine even par thanks to her second birdie of the day on the Par 5 18th hole.

Estela Castillo and Emma Shelley finished second and third within UCO's lineup and the two were separated by a single stroke. Castillo posted a 234 (77-79-78) in her first career MIAA Women's Golf Championship to finish tied for 22nd. Shelley, playing in her fourth postseason championship, posted a 235 (80-77-78) to tie for 27th.

Scarlet Sturch, another rookie in the lineup, finished two shots back with a 54-hole 237. She posted rounds of 81-81-75 to earn herself a tie for 30th individually.

Jirasuda Khunarak was also in the lineup. She finished 33rd with a 54-hole 239. Khunarak, who was named Second Team All-MIAA at the start of the tournament for her success leading the Bronchos all season, shot rounds of 80-82-77 this week.
