Racer Felter Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

UCO Reliever Went 2-0 In Three Appearances As The Bronchos Swept The Competition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma senior Racer Felter was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday, following a standout week on the baseball diamond.
 
Felter appeared in three games for the Bronchos as a relief pitcher. He posted a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. In 7 2/3 innings of work, Felter only gave up one hit and opponents managed just an .045 batting average against him.
 
The Lawton, Oklahoma native came out of the bullpen Tuesday at Northeastern State and shut down the Riverhawks through 4 2/3 innings. He walked one batter but didn't give up a hit and struck out four.
 
Felter also appeared in UCO's Game 2 win over Emporia State on Friday, throwing two innings. He gave up one hit and a walk but struck out three in picking up the win for the Bronchos. He threw again on Saturday in a win over Emporia State, striking out two batters of the three he got out in the eighth inning.
 
Felter is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA this season. He's pitched in nine games for the Bronchos, 15 2/3 innings, and has 17 strikeouts with opponents hitting just .140 against him.
 
Central Oklahoma is 27-7 on the season and 14-6 in the MIAA. The Bronchos are ranked in the Division II Baseball Insider's Top 25 and are receiving votes in the National College Baseball Writers' Association national poll. UCO is currently third in the MIAA standings, one game behind Missouri Southern. Central and MSSU play a three-game series in Joplin beginning Friday night.
