Track & Field Nationals Up Next For Treasure Vallerie

Central Oklahoma Freshman Racing In Two Events At NCAA Division II Indoor Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma freshman standout Treasure Vallerie is set to compete at the NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend at Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center.

Vallerie qualified for nationals in two events and will compete in preliminary racing Friday evening with the aim of qualifying for one of eight spots in the national championship races on Saturday.

Vallerie is scheduled to run in Heat 2 of the 400-meter prelim Friday at 4:20 p.m. before competing in Heat 2 of the 200-meter prelim Friday at 5:35 p.m. The top eight after five preliminary races will advance to the national finals. Saturday's championship races are scheduled for 6:10 p.m. (400m) and 6:55 p.m. (200m).

This season, Vallerie has put together one of the best rookie seasons in school history. While the relay team didn't qualify for nationals, Vallerie and her teammates broke a 12-year-old school record in the 4x400. The squad then broke their own record, and did it a second time, ultimately posting a 3:51.87, more than six seconds better than the original record.

Vallerie also broke the school record in both of the events she did qualify for nationals in. In the 400, Vallerie's time of 55.40 seconds at the MIAA Championships earned her a podium finish (third) and a new school record. In the 200, Vallerie's time of 24.04 seconds at the MIAA Championships also earned her a podium finish (third) and a new school record. Vallerie posted three times this winter that were better than the eight-year-old school record she broke.

Vallerie is Central Oklahoma's first national qualifier since 2021. The San Antonio, Texas native is aiming to be the first track athlete to earn All-American honors since 2001. UCO had four field athletes earn AA honors a combined 10 times since reinstating the program in 2009.
