Central Oklahoma Hosts Regional Preview

UCO Welcomes 24 Teams To KickingBird Golf Club In Edmond, Site Of NCAA Regional Championship

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma will host the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships in May 2025 at KickingBird Golf Club, and with that, will host the Regional Preview this week with 24 teams convening for 36 holes of golf Monday and Tuesday.
 
A shotgun start will get 30 groups off and running Monday morning. The second and final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning. KickingBird plays a Par 70 at 5,905 yards for this week's tournament.
 
Central Oklahoma has its top three players in the lineup for this week's tournament along with two newcomers. Jirasuda Khunarak, Scarlet Sturch, and Estela Castillo have played in both of UCO's first two tournaments and will lead the way this week. Freshmen Layne Ailshie and Josey Cavitt are also in the lineup ready to help out.
 
Khunarak has a 75.6 scoring average through five rounds of golf this season. The senior from Thailand shot a 54-hole 228 at the Dallas Baptist Classic and then finished 12th at the MIAA Preview with a 36-hole 150.
 
Sturch opened the season with a 234 in Dallas but rebounded with a 151 in Nebraska. The sophomore from Durant, Oklahoma has a 77.0 scoring average through five rounds of golf.
 
Castillo also has a 77.0 scoring average through five rounds of golf. The sophomore from Spain shot a 54-hole 231 in Dallas and a 36-hole 154 in Nebraska.
 
Ailshie earned a spot in the lineup for the first tournament of the season and the freshman posted a 247 (85-82-80). She did not play at the MIAA Preview in Nebraska two weeks ago, but is back in the lineup this week ready to work on Central's home course.
 
Cavitt will make her collegiate debut after sitting out the first two tournaments of the season. The Turner, Oklahoma native is a highly The highly touted freshman that dominated local courses during high school and is now ready to help the Bronchos at the next level.
 
Central Oklahoma has just one more tournament on the schedule for the fall season. The Bronchos will take on Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Missouri next week for Northwest Missouri's Midwest Classic Oct. 14-15.
