Bronchos Wrap Up Home Slate With NSU, RSU

Two MIAA Matches Against In-State Rivals Up Next For Central Oklahoma

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma wraps up the home portion of its 2024 schedule this weekend with a pair of MIAA matches against in-state rivals Northeastern State and Rogers State.

UCO is 7-5-2 this season, with a 4-2-2 record in the MIAA. Northeastern State is up first with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday. NSU is 9-4-0 overall this season and 3-4-0 in the MIAA. Rogers State comes to Edmond Sunday. The Bronchos will celebrate Senior Day prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff. RSU is 1-10-2 overall and 0-5-2 in league play.

Central Oklahoma heads into the final home weekend of the season averaging 2.14 goals per game, with 30 goals scored in 14 games. UCO averages 15.2 shots per game and puts 55.4 percent of its shots on goal.

The Bronchos allow 1.64 goals per game, having conceded 23 goals in 14 contests. Opponents take 9.9 shots per game and also put 55.4 percent of shots on goal.

Rebekah George continues to lead the Bronchos this season. The graduate transfer has seven goals and two assists for a team-high 16 points. George has scored in 6 of 14 games, with one two-goal game against Nebraska Kearney earlier this month.

A trio of Bronchos have four goals this season. True freshman Caleah Carter has four goals and four assists. Senior Madison Linavong has four goals and two assists and so does junior Rebecca Tweedy. Another true freshman, Jordan Tanges, has three goals this season.

Harmony Turner has scored twice and six other Bronchos (Albany Adair, Jordan Hahn, Callie Harbert, Jada Ryan, Evelyn Sydnes, and Tatum Tallal) have all scored one goal.

Carter's four assists lead the team while Turner has three this season. George, Linavong, Tweedy and Adair all have two assists. Emma Nicholas and Sheridan Ross have one each.

Avery Bass is Central's leader in goal, with the junior posting 44 saves in 12 games this season. Bass has played 935 minutes and allowed only 16 goals. She has a 5-4-2 record in goal. Olivia Vigil has played in six games and made 10 saves. She is 2-1-0 in goal on the year.

Central Oklahoma hosts NSU and RSU this weekend to wrap up the home portion of its schedule. The final two weeks will include a trip to Newman on Friday, Nov. 1 before closing the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Pittsburg State.

The 2024 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship begins Sunday, Nov. 10 with the quarterfinals. The top four teams in the final standings will host opening round matches on campus sites. The semifinals and championship match are scheduled for Nov. 15 & 17 in Wichita, Kan. Central Oklahoma is in fifth place in the MIAA standings heading into this weekend's games – just one point behind fourth place and a home playoff game.
