Central Oklahoma Hosts Fort Hays State Friday Afternoon

Bronchos Looking To Bounce Back Into Win Column In MIAA Matchup

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma is home for the second weekend in a row and the Bronchos have two MIAA matches on tap at Tom Thompson Field, beginning with Fort Hays State Friday at 2 p.m.
 
UCO will also host Nebraska Kearney at 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
Central enters this weekend with a 4-4-2 overall record on the season, and a 1-1-2 mark in the MIAA. Fort Hays State is 5-2-3 on the season with a 2-1-1 record in league competition. Nebraska Kearney, which plays at Newman on Friday, enters the weekend with a 4-2-4 overall record and an 0-2-2 line in the MIAA.
 
UCO is averaging 1.7 goals per game this season and the Bronchos are allowing 1.7 goals per game this season. Through 10 matches, just over the halfway point of the 18-game schedule, Central Oklahoma has scored and allowed 17 goals.
 
The Bronchos do outshoot opponents on a regular basis. UCO puts up 13.7 shots per game and puts 54 percent of its shots on goal. Opponents manage 10.4 shots per game and puts 53.8 percent of those shots on goal.
 
Central's 17 goals this season have come from 10 different players, seven of which have one goal. Rebekah George leads the team with four goals and the graduate transfer from Choctaw, Okla. also had one assist for a team-high nine points on the year.
 
Caleah Carter, a true freshman from Edmond, and Madison Linavong, a senior from Allen, Texas, both have three goals and one assist for seven total points.
 
Jordan Hahn, Rebecca Tweedy, Albany Adair, Harmony Turner, Callie Harbert, Evelyn Sydnes, and Jordan Tanges all have one goal scored this season.
 
Tweedy and Hahn lead the team with two assists each. Adair and Turner also have one assist each. Sheridan Ross has one assist too as the Bronchos have assisted on 10 of 17 goals this season.
 
Avery Bass has played and started in 8 of 10 games this season for the Bronchos, totaling 651 minutes. She has 13 goals allowed but 34 saves in net. Bass is 2-3-2 on the year. Olivia Vigil has played in four games and made two starts. She has allowed four goals and made five saves.
 
Central Oklahoma will play four of its final six matches away from home. After this weekend's two home contests, the Bronchos visit Central Missouri and Missouri Southern next weekend, then play their final two home games against Northeastern State and Rogers State Oct. 25 & 27 respectively. UCO wraps up the regular season at Pittsburg State and at Newman.
 
The 2024 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship is scheduled for Nov. 10-17, with the top four teams in the league hosting a quarterfinal match on campus sites. The semifinals and final will take place in Wichita, Kan.
