Bronchos Head To Texas This Weekend

DENTON, Texas - Central Oklahoma wraps up a lengthy season-opening road swing this weekend when the Bronchos trek to Texas for four matches in the Denton Volleyfest hosted by Texas Woman's.

UCO, 4-1 on the young season, will play four matches in two days at Kitty Magee Arena. The Bronchos open against Arkansas-Monticello (0-5) at 2 p.m. Friday before taking on the host Pioneers (2-2) at 7 p.m., then come back Saturday to take on Illinois-Springfield (1-2) at 2 p.m. and Ouachita Baptist (1-3) at 7.

"We're coming off a tough loss and need to bounce back this weekend," said head coach Edgar Miraku, whose team lost a five-set battle at Southern Nazarene Tuesday. "There's a lot of things we need to work on. It's early and we're still trying to figure things out, but I this group and am excited about what we can do."

UCO went 4-0 in the season-opening Midwestern State Invitational last weekend before dropping the five-set thriller at SNU Tuesday.

Sophomore Sydney Huck has a team-high 59 kills (3.28/set) for the Bronchos to go along with 25 digs. Junior Jenna Karp is hitting a blistering .344 with 53 kills and just 11 errors in 122 attacks to go along with eight blocks, while junior Addison Wimmer has 47 kills and 41 digs.

UCO follows this weekend's action with its first home match of the year next week, hosting Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.
