Bronchos Wrap Up Outdoor Season

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at Lincoln University's Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
 
The Bronchos finished in 11th place in the team standings with Dahsauni Lyday accounting for all four team points.
 
Lyday finished fifth in the shot put with a 13.52-meter throw. She also finished 11th in the discus throw on Sunday afternoon, heaving a 38.47-meter mark. On Saturday, Lyday finished 17th in the hammer (47.32m).
 
UCO had six student-athletes compete on Saturday on Day 2 of the championships. Tatum Robertson joined Lyday in the hammer throw and finished 22nd at 43.94 meters. Robertson also threw on Sunday in the shot put and finished 19th with a 10.73-meter throw.
 
Mattison Thetford, Talyn Been, and Luz Lugo-Ponce all competed in the pole vault. Thetford cleared 3.51 meters, the opening mark, in her first try, but Been and Lugo-Ponce did not clear the mark and didn't advance in the event.
 
Dekayla Gaines also competed in two sprints on Saturday. The junior finished 15th in the 100 (12.48 seconds) and 23rd in the 200 (25.56).
 
Gracie Sanders competed in the 5,000 meters on Sunday but did not finish.
