UCO Ranked 30th, Hosts Washburn & Northwest

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma is scheduled to host Washburn and Northwest Missouri this weekend in a pair of MIAA duals at Broncho Courts.

UCO, which dropped to No. 30 in the latest ITA national rankings, is 7-7 on the season and 2-2 in the MIAA. The Bronchos welcome Washburn, currently ranked No. 23, Friday at 2 p.m. The Ichabods from Topeka, Kansas are 10-5 overall on the year and 4-1 in the MIAA. Northwest Missouri, currently ranked No. 19, is 14-3 overall on the season and 5-0 in league play. That match is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. and will also be preceded by Senior Day for the Bronchos.

Central Oklahoma is coming off a loss at Nebraska Kearney. The match was the first of four straight duals against nationally ranked opponents for UCO. The Bronchos had No. 44 UNK, then No. 23 Washburn and No. 19 Northwest, and next week, No. 13 Cameron.

The Bronchos are led by its No. 1 doubles team of Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock. The duo is 11-3 on the season and is ranked fourth in the country in the latest ITA Doubles Top 50. Boyar is also 6-6 in singles play and Buntrock is 6-7.

Pete Komada and Nefeli Zafeiri have an 11-3 doubles record on the year as well this season. The duo has won eight straight matches. Komada is 5-9 in singles competition and Zafeiri is 7-5.

Tizia Brocks and Karyna Yurchenko have teamed up in 10 of 14 matches this season. The duo is 6-4 together. Brocks has also played alongside Taylor Conway and is 2-0 with her. Brocks and Yurchenko both have a 7-6 singles record this season.
