UCO Wraps Up Regular Season On The Road

Central Oklahoma Is Tied For First In MIAA Standings On Final Weekend

HAYS, Kan. – Central Oklahoma wraps up the regular season with two MIAA road contests this weekend beginning Friday afternoon at Fort Hays State.

First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Bronchos will then travel to Nebraska Kearney Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regular season finale.

UCO is 14-3 on the season and 6-1 in the MIAA. The Bronchos enter the final weekend tied for first in the MIAA standings with Washburn. Central could win the conference championship with two wins this weekend.

The Bronchos beat Washburn earlier this season and would own the tiebreaker against the Ichabods if the teams are tied heading into the postseason. The MIAA Women's Tennis Championship is scheduled for May 1-3 in Springfield, Missouri.

Fort Hays State welcomes Central Oklahoma to Hays, Kansas on Friday with an 8-9 overall record and an 0-7 mark in the MIAA. The Tigers have lost seven in a row – all conference games – but are 4-2 at home this season.

Nebraska Kearney is 9-9 overall this season with a 3-4 record in the MIAA. The Lopers have won back-to-back league games and are 4-4 at home this season.

The Bronchos are also ranked No. 4 in the NCAA's Central Region rankings. Two schools will host three-team sub-regionals in May with both winners advancing to nationals in Florida.

Central's doubles teams have been on a dominant run this season. UCO has won the doubles point in 15 of 17 matches and has swept all three doubles positions in 12 matches, including each of the last eight and in all seven MIAA contests.

Hasegawa and Komada are 14-2 this season, 7-0 in the MIAA, and winners of eight in a row. They are 4-0 against nationally-ranked opponents. Anika Ouwejan and Ayaka Koga are 14-1 together this season, 6-0 in the MIAA, and have won 10 consecutive matches. Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo are 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the MIAA.
